Car & Van Service Bristol

A service is essentially a 'tune up' of your vehicle, consisting of a series of maintenance procedures to help keep it running properly. This includes 50+ system or component checks, part replacements, fluid level inspections, and general adjustments performed by a certified mechanic.

Services are usually performed after your car has travelled a certain distance - often pre-designated by the car manufacturer itself. In more modern cars, they even display on the dashboard when the next service is due. Here at the Carbase Autocentres, we like to ensure that your pride and joy is kept running beautifully. We provide 3 tiers of car and van servicing, Interim, Interim Plus and also Major to cover all your servicing needs.

Why get a car service?

Servicing your vehicle isn't compulsory, but when performed regularly they can help you improve your fuel efficiency, handling, engine, and vastly reduce the chances of a breakdown. Not only this, but you can upkeep the warranty of your car by performing regular service checks.

What car service should I choose?

There are many different types of services available from various providers, so it can often be confusing selecting the right one for your vehicle. To make it easier, it can be broken down into three types - interim, interim plus, and major. Depending on various factors such as your car make and model, registration year, and mileage, you will find one type that suits your needs more than the others. It is always best to discuss this with your mechanic at an approved garage and to do a little bit of research on their available services so you can check what is included in the packages.

How often should a car get serviced?

It is generally recommended to have a car serviced every 12 months or every 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. It is important to follow the manufacturer's recommended service schedule, as this can vary depending on the make and model of your car.

What is the difference between a minor and a major service?

Minor or full service - Includes a comprehensive vehicle inspection and diagnostic checks, engine oil and filter replacement, vehicle greasing, and tire rotation. It should be carried out every other year or after a specific number of miles (typically 12,000, but this may differ depending on the manufacturer) - whichever comes first. A minor service generally takes an hour to complete.

Major service - Includes all the tasks in a minor service along with additional comprehensive checks and services throughout the vehicle such as a pollen filter change and, as required, a fuel filter and sparks plug change. It should be completed every two years, or after your manufacturer's specified number of miles (normally 24,000), whichever comes first. A major service generally takes three hours.

How much is a car service?

The cost of a car service in the UK can vary depending on several factors. The type and make of the vehicle, the location of the service centre, and the extent of the service required can all impact the price. You can get a quote from our friendly customer service team for your vehicle by booking a service.
