Tippers, Dropsides, Chassis Cabs
If you, or your business, needs to transport materials in large volume from place to place, then a dropside or tipper van from Vanbase could be exactly what you need. Combining the storage space of a long wheelbase van or pickup truck with the versatility provided by ease of access systems, tippers and dropside vans are perfect for getting what you need, where you need it to go.
What is a tipper?
A tipper is usually a long wheelbase commercial vehicle that has either a single or a double cab with a flatbed to the rear, which is open and has low sides and a hinged tailgate. The most important feature of a tipper is the ram mechanism that raises the bed at an angle, allowing the load to be tipped out at the rear.
In addition there are also three-way tippers that allow tipping to each side as well as the rear and cage tippers that have an enclosed cage on the bed which ensures that lighter loads like garden waste don't blow away. Due to the mounted metal cage, cage tippers can carry a higher, but lighter load.
What is a dropside van?
While tippers and dropside vans might look alike, there is one key difference. On a dropside van, the panels that surround the flatbed can be folded down so that the load can be accessed by forklifts and people alike. Dropsides can also carry a heavier payload than tippers, due to the lack of ram mechanism.
As with tippers, dropsides are available in either single or double cab, although your choice of cab will affect the available payload.
