Pickup trucks
Pickup trucks and 4x4s are a popular van for people that need a practical business vehicle that doubles as family transport in the evening and weekends. One of the benefits of owning one is that they can qualify for various tax benefits. Let's start simple though...
What is a Pickup or 4x4 van?
Pickup vans and 4x4 vans are often one and the same, although you can get 4x4 small, medium or large vans etc. The benefit often lies in the 4x4 ability allowing for easy manoeuvrability on building sites or in adverse conditions. This makes these vans perfect for rescue vehicles, farmyard and plant activities as well as being more than excellent on the road day to day.
Advanced tractional control is often a common feature upgrade allowing for differing ground types making your journey easier. Differing manufacturers have their own implementation of this so it's often beneficial to test drive although your local conditions are not always available to meet during a test drive - speak to us to find out more.
Tax benefits of a Pickup or 4x4 van
Double cab pickups that can carry more than one tonne of payload in the bed are classified as commercial vehicles, and as a result they qualify for a fixed rate of Benefit In Kind tax: for the 2019/20 tax year that's calculated at £3,430, with 20 per cent taxpayers liable to pay £686 and 40 per cent payees owing £1,372. Compared to a similarly spec'ed SUV, that is a significant saving in BIK costs.
