Your Car or Van's Air Con Check & Gas

If the air conditioning in your car is not functioning correctly, it could mean that your car needs an aircon service. These are relatively simple to carry out and ensure your aircon system performs well and is kept in good condition.  Before we can carry out your Air Con Service (including an air con regas), as a legal requirement we'll need to check the system for any faults or leaks.

Here at the Carbase Autocentres, we provide a series of air con services for your car or van, including: Air Con Refresh & Debug, Air Con Diagnostic, Air Con Service for both 134a & 123yf (Your Air Con Service will depend on your vehicle's gas type. 134a refrigerant and the newer 123yf. Why does my aircon need servicing?

Your air conditioner generally needs to be maintained, much like other parts, to ensure a long life - this is on average once every 2 years. As a highly used component of the car, your air conditioning has a high gas usage even when not running, and it is important to maintain it given the potential effect it has on health due to bacteria build-up. Usual signs of your air conditioning unit not working could include inconsistent variations in air temperature, the air being blown is less cool, or if it feels like there is no difference when it is on compared to off.

What is a regas?

If your aircon stops working it could be solved quite easily with a "regas". This simply means removing the old refrigerant gas from the system and replacing it with new. This is the first step in fixing your aircon, so always keep that in mind. This procedure should take no longer than an hour.
