An MOT is required on an annual basis, for all vehicles more than 3 years old whereas a service is typically required after the vehicle has covered a certain mileage. It may well be that these two different timescales align nicely and in that case, it might make sense for you to have both done at the same time, however, it's not a necessity to have them done together and you can book in a service to be done at any time.
