After reaching their funding target the lads travelled to Sweden to attend the tournament.
First held in 1975, the Gothia Cup is the world's largest and most international youth football tournament, comprising 1700 teams from 80 nations in 2018 alone! It's the teams, and participants from around the world that make the tournament unique. A meeting place for the world's youth, irrespective of religion, skin colour or nationality, with football as the common denominator.
Parent supporter, Wendy, said "The boys conducted themselves impeccably and really enjoyed the experience, learnt a lot and meet some great personalities from all over the world!"
Though they narrowly missed out on the trophy, the lads played exceptionally well, despite some of their players suffering from injuries or illness. Everyone really enjoyed the experience and they intend to return next year to compete in the 2019 Gothia Cup!
Congratulations to all participants, and all the best for the future!
